I painted this last year... first acrylic painting I've ever done. I couldn't be more pleased with the way it turned out, though I'm not very pleased with the fact that I've had to submit this thing 5 times to various art websites that eventually crashed. Perhaps it is cursed.

We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. to me, it seems like it would be really difficult to make this look right. in a photo, such things don't matter. people don't question strange positions because they know it's a photo. but with paintings or drawings, even ones that look just like the photo, a person might question whether or not something looks right. does that make sense? it's something I run into sometimes when trying to draw or paint from a reference (which is basically always). anyways. the POINT: I think you did a great job. despite the awkward angle and position, I can tell exactly what's going on with every curve and shaded area.

I totally know what you mean about the weird angles. The shading was also annoying with this because no matter what I did it still looked odd to me. His knee is one example of this. It also took me forever to figure out what he had around his neck. 'Is it a necklace? Headphones? SUNGLASSES?!' I think it's headphones now, but then I couldn't figure it out so I ended up just painting exactly what I saw and prayed that no one would question it. ^_^
